It’s rare to see a short story be so detailed and concise that it takes my breath away at how wonderful the plot was. This is one of those stories. Today, we review The Angel by Kate Cobey, Narrated by Julia Rios, as featured in Cast of Wonders’s Artemis Rising Special, which promotes women and those who identify as women. You can have a listen here. This is one hell of a heartwarming tale, so let’s check it out. Continue reading “Fiction Friday: The Angel (Artemis Rising 5 and International Women’s Day Special)”

Today, we’re doing something different. Instead of doing a typical novel review at the beginning of the month, we’re changing things up to make things easier on me. To start, every three months, starting today will be a novella review, either a small novella or one from a magazine. Novel reviews will be in between and short stories, of course, will be every Friday otherwise. This puts less strain on me and it means I can focus on other things at the same time. So now, let’s get into our first novella (a reprint, really, but a good starting point)

Today’s Novella is All The Flavors: A Tale of Guan Yu, the Chinese God of War, in America by Ken Liu. You can find it here. This is from Lightspeed, but you’d have to buy the issue to read for yourself. The original version is here.

Let’s get started, shall we? Continue reading “All The Flavors: A Tale of Guan Yu, The Chinese God of War, In America”

Goals for 2019

My first novella, City of Kaiju, is available for pre-order. Available through Amazon and Books2Read. You can see a preview of the very first chapter here. Check it out when it launches, February 12th, 2019.

Hello, everyone. Welcome to 2019. It’s the year we finally have androids, flying cars, space travel, holograms, and 80s-style fashion trends.
I think I made that joke before. Ah well.
It’s time for another big goals list for 2019. I did pretty well last time. We saw the release of two short stories, Do Not Stare Into The Eyes of a Kitsune and My Cat Is A Monster, and next month, I’m releasing City Of Kaiju, my first novella. I have tons more planned, including my second novella, The Daughter of Dragons, releasing this Summer of 2019. I’ll announce a date in the coming months, but progress is underway.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get started on what I plan to achieve in 2019. Continue reading “Goals for 2019”

Hello, everyone. I wanted to bring up a few plans for my website, blog, and author career as we approach 2019. This year saw the release of two new works. My Cat Is A Monster, and Do Not Stare Into The Eyes of a Kitsune, both short stories you can read now. In February, I’ll launch the City Of Kaiju, my first novella and I shall do my darnedest to get Legends of Eifalia to an agent and push that out as soon as possible, hopefully by March’s #PitMad event.

But I wanted to primarily discuss the website and what I plan to do with it over the next year. I’ll have a proper goals post for New Years but I wanted to talk about the now. The main focus will be the blog updates. So I’m gonna run through a few things so you have an idea of what I have planned.

Fiction Friday: Mark of the Raven

My first novel, City of Kaiju, is available for pre-order. Available through Amazon and Books2Read. You can see a preview of the very first chapter here. Releasing on February 12th, 2019.

Fiction Friday is a series where I talk about what I’ve been reading. Short Stories (and sometimes Novellas) are featured as in-between posts and the first Friday of the month will feature a new novel review. Today, I review Mark of the Raven by Morgan L. Busse.

MarkOfTheRaven

Time for a different kind of fantasy. Instead of swords, elves, orcs and the like, how about a stealthy kind of fantasy, one with a dark and brooding feel, like Assassin’s Creed meets Game of Thrones.

Today’s novel review is Mark of the Raven by Morgan L. Busse. You can buy it here. It’s a powerful tale of darkness, cunning, and a world divided in yet another potential fantasy classic. So sit back and let’s dream on. Continue reading “Fiction Friday: Mark of the Raven”

Happy Thanksgiving to those of us in the states that celebrate it. Hope you guys are stuffing yourselves silly. I figured due to the title, we look at an actual Thanksgiving story. Most TV shows these days have a Thanksgiving special, and most of them involve sitting around and eating the typical Thanksgiving feast. This story does have that, but it does contains a creepy twist.

Today’s story is Thanksgiving by Jeffrey Ford, as featured in Fantasy and Science Fiction Magazine. You can buy it here. You ever have that one person your family knows that mystifies you. You don’t know who he is or why he even know your parents, but he hangs out regardless. Well, this is the case here. Let’s dig in, shall we?
