Surprise Thesaurus Announcement from Angela and Becca

I have a secret to spill! Hey, guys. For the last month, I’ve been part of a Street Team for Angela and Becca at Writers Helping Writers, who are launching their new writing book on February 19th. Because they are known for showing, not telling, they decided it would be fun to keep the thesaurus book’s topic a secret until the book cover reveal…WHICH IS … Continue reading Surprise Thesaurus Announcement from Angela and Becca

Beneath Ceaseless Skies Issue #269 by [Lingen, Marissa, Taylor, Jordan]

Imagine murdering someone you loved. The guilt of having it stay with you that you begin hallucinating for days until you repent your sin. That’s the theme of today’s story.

Today, we’re talking about The Deepest Notes of the Harp and Drum by Marissa Lingen, as featured in Beneath Ceaseless Skies. You can find it here (and buy here). This is a fairly straightforward tale that reminds what those who have committed horrible atrocities have to live with on a regular basis. So let’s see what’s in store?

I’m gonna try to experiment a bit with how I review things, so I’m adding a score system. I’ll point out what I like and what I didn’t like and average it out to give one final score. It can be changed as we go along, but I do feel it adds more to my reviews. So, let’s go. Continue reading “Fiction Friday: The Deepest Notes of the Harp and Drum (Beneath Ceaseless Skies #269)”

Today, we’re doing something different. Instead of doing a typical novel review at the beginning of the month, we’re changing things up to make things easier on me. To start, every three months, starting today will be a novella review, either a small novella or one from a magazine. Novel reviews will be in between and short stories, of course, will be every Friday otherwise. This puts less strain on me and it means I can focus on other things at the same time. So now, let’s get into our first novella (a reprint, really, but a good starting point)

Today’s Novella is All The Flavors: A Tale of Guan Yu, the Chinese God of War, in America by Ken Liu. You can find it here. This is from Lightspeed, but you’d have to buy the issue to read for yourself. The original version is here.

Let’s get started, shall we? Continue reading “All The Flavors: A Tale of Guan Yu, The Chinese God of War, In America”

My first novella, City of Kaiju, is available for pre-order. Available through Amazon and Books2Read. You can see a preview of the very first chapter here. Check it out when it launches, February 12th, 2019.

Hello, everyone. Welcome to 2019. It’s the year we finally have androids, flying cars, space travel, holograms, and 80s-style fashion trends.
I think I made that joke before. Ah well.
It’s time for another big goals list for 2019. I did pretty well last time. We saw the release of two short stories, Do Not Stare Into The Eyes of a Kitsune and My Cat Is A Monster, and next month, I’m releasing City Of Kaiju, my first novella. I have tons more planned, including my second novella, The Daughter of Dragons, releasing this Summer of 2019. I’ll announce a date in the coming months, but progress is underway.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get started on what I plan to achieve in 2019. Continue reading “Goals for 2019”
