It’s August 2018.

Before we begin, I debuted a brand new banner on Monday, featuring characters that act as mascots for my website. I’d like to explain a bit about why I picked such a banner.

Obviously, the human is me, as I often imagine myself. Think of it as an author persona. The other is a character that I’ve had in my head for a long time. Her name is Tsuki (Japanese for “moon”) and she’s a green rabbit. She was one of the first original characters I’ve made and I never had the chance to bring her to life before. Now that I’m able to find artwork, I managed to make numerous art pieces of her.

I made her when I was about Eleven or so, as an opposite to the popular character Pikachu. She shares a number of similarities, both being rodents that use attacks and act tough and cute at the same time. Being such a huge fan at the time (I still am, by the way), I wanted my own Pikachu, someone I could call a friend and treat with the same love and care Ash does to his Pikachu. She means a lot to me and she’s yet to leave my own head.

I’ve wanted to incorporate this character into something considering how much she means to me. It might not seem like much, but she is a huge part of my childhood, and part of me as a whole. Since my stories are set to be geared towards younger audiences, I figured a young mascot would do. After all, gotta have mascot representation somewhere, even as an author.

So that’s the banner, let’s go on with my progress.

City of Kaiju is moving along nicely. I know my stories will be about 20-30k words, but I feel this one will start on the shorter end, maybe 18k or so if I’m lucky. We’ll see where this final word count takes me, since I knew how large of a progress gap Legends of Eifalia took. Went from about 56 to 61k in a few drafts. I do want these to be quicker and I am more confident in my methods now, so I hope to finish this by the end of the month and move on to the structural edits. Fine tuning the sentences and the drama and all that fun stuff.

After that, I’ll resume progress on Legends of Eifalia and continue the plot draft. My main focus is incorporating a third POV, being one of the main trio, into the story. I’ve had trouble before, but I have a better idea of how to do it. Just need to incorporate it better and I’ll resume in September, finishing by November.

I’ve made a Trello page so you can see my progress. I don’t know if it shows due dates or not, but these aren’t release dates. Again, I’ll announce them when I feel it’s ready.

That’s about it. Same stuff as usual. It’s my birthday this month, so I hope to have fun writing fantastical stories.

That’s all for today. Take care, and remember, the inn is always open.
