Ramblings:

My (super brief) thoughts of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

I saw the new Guardians movie last Sunday and I did mention that I hoped it was better than the first. Sure enough, my expectations were met. This is probably one of my favorites in the MCU and I’d recommend it to anyone wishing to see it. I have no idea if it’ll be in theaters by the time this goes up, but if you miss it, definitely buy it.

A minor issue I had with it was Sylvester Stallone’s role in the film. Without spoiling too much, he didn’t have that big of a role in the film, despite being such a famous actor. It seemed like they were setting things up for him later down the line, but the only other appearance was towards the end. I would have liked to at least seen a bigger role, or at least more appearances in the film, but that was only a minor complaint in an otherwise stellar film.

The movie felt like a love letter to the 80s. Numerous shout outs to that era and even had that cheesy, 80s sci-fi feel to it. I am aware that I was never born in that era (I’m a proud 90s kid), but I could tell they wanted to give this one for them.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend it. I know this was a short, super brief review, but I’m not a critic and I only saw the movie one time. Again, I don’t have the time or the attention span to do a full on review. I’m just a guy who writes for a living and plays video games.

That’s all for today. Take care, and remember, the inn is always open.
