Status Update 5/28/17 – Happy Memorial Day

Status Update: 5/28/17

Current Progress:

Upcoming Novel Progress: Chapter 18 rough draft finished, Chapter 19 in the works.

Current Total Word Count: 36,839

It’s May 28th, 2017. You might have noticed that the word count and chapter count went down. I actually had close to 21 chapters complete, but part of the way through, the third act was losing its focus. It had a plot line I didn’t like and didn’t make sense as time went on. As such, I went back from Chapter 17 and worked my way up again.

I still intend to finish a rough draft by late June, so here’s hoping this new story sticks.

I have always been a pantser at heart and any outlines I would do were no more than a single paragraph of what happened in each chapter (I usually save the scene list outline stuff until I have a story that’s more concrete). Even writing such paragraphs, I always deviate from them when I come up with a better idea as I’m writing.

So a minor setback, but still on target.

Ramblings:

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day for those in the US. Time for parades and barbecues. Not much to say, really. Sometimes, these news posts are kept simple. I will have topics every so often and I’ll keep the small talk to a minimum. By the time this post goes up, I’ll be watching the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie. I loved the first one and I hope this one is even better. Perhaps next week, I’ll give my general opinion on the film. I won’t give a full blown review of it (I don’t have the stamina to do a play-by-play review of it, especially in one sitting), but I will give some brief thoughts about it as a whole.

That’s all for today. Take care, and remember, the inn is always open.
